Who likes stress? Nobody does. And who would like to make the most of the Christmas period with less stress and more time for themselves? Lots of people, that’s who! With our 5 tips you can take a load off your shoulders and have a stress free Christmas period. These life hacks will not only help you enjoy yourself better but also keep all those close to you happy too!

1. Start shopping early for the best deals and avoiding the last minute crowds.

There is nothing more stressful that navigating the long queues at the stores or trying to find a park in the shopping centre. Shopping early will help you avoid stress and enjoy yourself more.

2. Decide on a budget and stick to it.

Credit cards get a huge bashing this time of year, and you then spend the next 12 months trying to pay it all off, and then start all over again. That’s why it is essential to stick to a budget at all costs. Decide how much you are willing to spend on each person and only buy the presents within your set limit . It will help reduce stress, save money and avoid overspending!

3. Consider buying items from local small businesses & online.

Another great way to avoid hectic malls and shopping centres is to buy items from local small businesses. This is not only great for your stress levels but also helps support the people in your community. Another option that many like to use this time of year are online stores. You can get amazing deals plus you will be supporting a small local business instead of contributing to retail chains.

4. Make a List and check it twice!

There is nothing worse than getting to a family gathering and realising that you forgot to buy something for Great Aunt Hilda. Make a list of all the people you intend to buy presents for and make sure that every item is on your shopping list. Add a couple of generic, non gender specific gift items as well just in case that long lost cousin shows up unannounced. Also, don’t forget to put yourself down on there! You deserve something nice too!

5. Have a pre-Christmas clearout

Spend a weekend doing a de-clutter sesh. Donate clothes, toys, food and other goods for use by those that are in need this holiday season. Not only will you be stress free and happy that your goods are going to good use, but it is a great way of getting rid of unwanted items. Christmas after all is all about giving.

Hopefully if you get to utilise a couple of these life hacks you will be stress free and ready for the holiday season. Have a stress free Christmas and enjoy yourself!
