The CBF Take on… Clothing Styles

The CBF Take on… Clothing Styles

Mens Wear & Womens Wear. If you are gender neutral, which do you look at when you are online shopping? If you identify as female and go into a clothing store, do you even spare a gaze at the mens section?  How do you feel about a guy wandering around the ladies’ section?  I’m not talking about the lingerie section though… that’s a completely different conversation altogether.  I just found these questions quite fascinating, and being a heterosexual female, I will freely put my hand up and say that before I went into the clothing industry I never gave it a second thought. What I naïve little CBFer I am.

It’s these very questions that are the reason for adding “for everyone” in our categories. Let’s face it, really, does it matter what you identify as?  I was exploring all the different tee shirt styles while trying to decide on what to use for our designs, and I have found that my favourite ones to wear have been what the manufacturer calls “Mens V-Neck Tee”.  I changed it to say “V-Neck Tee”, and now I can wear it.

The hoodies in the range are “unisex”. Do we even need that word?  Why can’t we just say it’s for everyone.  Then we had the REALLY confusing “Boyfriend Tee”. Like, what the fuck does that even mean? It’s a more “feminine” shape, i.e it has been cut to emphasis breasts. Or to put the sales pitch on it, designed to “flatter the curves”.  So tell me this, if it’s specially designed for women’s figures… why is it a boyfriend tee? Would the boyfriend be wearing a tee that accentuate his man boobs? I mean I’m all for embracing your man curves guys, really I am.  I just found the use of the term boyfriend tee quite absurd.  Oh, the controversy I have just stepped into right here!

Seriously though I called it the Queens cut to suggest the fact that it is for a more feminine outline, but if there are some Princesses, Kings, Knaves and Court Jesters out there who wanna check it out then I am absolutely all for it. You do you boo!

Really, whether you look at the menswear, ladieswear, or the everyone section, you will find something that suits who YOU are.  The only labels we care about are the ones in the back of our clothing.  That’s what we are about.. finding YOUR fit.
